Agata Markowicz

How I came to this work

My name is Agata Markowicz. I have completed the core training in Body Psychotherapy and am currently a trainee body psychotherapist at the Cambridge Body Psychotherapy Centre (CBPC). I am gaining clinical experience while completing the final requirements for full accreditation with the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP). I also hold a diploma in biodynamic massage.

I have always thought about how much the body itself, and our reactions, reveal about us. Observing other people spend years in education made me think there is more to life than a cognitive approach. My approach is concentrated on exploring bodily sensations and patterns, and connecting them with bodily reactions. The emphasis in body therapy is on processing emotions rather than only talking about them. The difference is that we do not only talk. I follow the gentle pace of the body, and make room for emotion to be felt, not just described.
